Teamwork and Team Building
Don Shelby, Emmy winning journalist and former WCCO news anchor
The essence of productive cultures, societies, businesses, governments and families, is teamwork. It is a word thrown around a lot these days, and most people have a good sense of what it means. They surely recognize it when they see it. And, when they see it, they see success, whether it is on the playing field or the dining room table, or the board room. But, few people understand how a team is built and how to build that team to take advantage of the skills and personalities of the teammates. The object is to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Don Shelby built the nationally famous I-Team, winner of five national Emmys and the most respected investigative journalism unit in the country. He has been a player and coach for 30 years on the court. He knows what makes a team from the inside out.
