Remote Learning System Requirements

 

To ensure a successful experience, Remote Learning students must have access to a system that meets minimum requirements.

Minimum System Requirements


All Remote Learning students MUST complete the student agreement and connectivity test to ensure your system configuration meets requirements. Please complete the form and fax it to us before your class start date. This also allows us to assist you with troubleshooting any issues before the start of your class.

Your participation requires the following minimum system configuration:
  • Windows 2000 Professional or later
  • P4 1GHz processor or faster
  • 512MB RAM or more
  • Browser
    • - Internet Explorer (IE) 5.0 or higher
    • - Cookies and Session Cookies enabled
    • - Display – 1024x768 minimum resolution and High Color (16 bit) display definition
    • - Sound card with speakers 
    • - Java Version 1.5 or 1.6

Recommended Optional Configurations


The following configurations are not required but will enhance your experience allowing you to view each application on a full screen.

 

  • Dual monitors or two computers 
    Dual Monitors Highly Recommended
  • Higher than 1024x768 resolution on your display(s)
  • We will provide you with a headset free of charge; however, you can purchase one on your own if you would like. Please remember that using a headset with a microphone will give you the best user experience for Remote Learning. Using a phone or speakers will not give you the best possible experience.
    Use the provided headset with microphone for the best experience.
Internet Access:
  • Broadband Internet connection (cable, ISDN, DSL or better that provides a minimum of 512K speeds)
  • Experience may vary based on connection speed

Web Proxy Servers and Firewalls:


If you are behind a Web Proxy Server or Firewall, you must check for the following in order to successfully attend Remote Learning.

  • Test your access to the URL address http://www.gotomypc.com
  • Verify access for port 443 (HTTPS) and ports 2187 or 80 (TCP)
