How do I become a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)?
Effective October 1, 2009, all Certified ScrumMaster candidates have the following requirements:
- Complete a Certified ScrumMaster course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST)
- Pass a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) online certification exam within ninety (90) days after your course date
Certification is valid for two years from the date you pass your certification exam.
What does the exam cover?
- Scrum Basics: The principles of Scrum, Scrum framework, and artifacts and roles
- Meetings: Sprint Review, Sprint Planning Meeting, Daily Scrum and Sprint Retrospective
- Roles: Scrum Team, Product Owner, ScrumMaster roles and responsibilities
- Artifacts: Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, and Burndown charts and how they are used
How do I recertify?
You will be notified via email prior to expiry.
- If you earned your certification prior to April 1, 2009, you must take the initial online certification exam by April 1, 2011 to maintain your certification.
- If you earned your certification after April 1, 2009, you will have two years from your course date to pass the CSM exam and maintain your certification.
