Our Culture
Benchmark Learning's unique culture is often praised by students, partners and employees. It is a culture of learning, team building and exceeding expectations — all while having fun. Our culture fosters an employee work environment that allows for success. Outstanding achievement is to be recognized and rewarded, open communication is always encouraged and career growth is expected.
Communication
Open communication with team members and management is encouraged and respected. We function as a collaborative team where each member is valued for his or her contribution to the success of the organization. We are a flat organization where everyone has a cube, including our owner — there are no corner offices or micromanagement. Employees of Benchmark Learning are trained to practice effective communication according to Insights Discovery methods. We strive to engage every employee and empower them.
Celebration
At Benchmark Learning, we work hard and play hard. We celebrate special occasions, holidays and accomplishments as a company. We annually host a kick-off party and a holiday celebration for our employees. Our owners look forward to celebrating individual success in both the professional and personal lives of our 60 employees including anniversaries of employment, department recognitions and outings.
Growth
All employees are expected to continually grow and develop their skills through experience and education. One opportunity for employees to advance their education is by taking Benchmark Learning classes at no charge. There is also a tuition reimbursement program designed to assist employees who are continuing their education in other areas. In addition to professional growth, personal growth is encouraged and Benchmark Learning offers a variety of activities and causes for employees to become involved with such as our community service committee.
Community
As an organization built on service, Benchmark Learning believes helping those in need is important to staying connected to our community. We have contributed services, funds and volunteers to a number of local and national non-profit organizations. Benchmark Learning has been a supporter of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program since 1998. We annually hold toy drives for our employees and students and we have also been a Twin Cities Toys for Tots drop-off location. Benchmark Learning employees have also volunteered their time to serve meals to the hungry for more than five years through Loaves & Fishes, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide nutritious meals to the hungry of the Twin City Metro area. In addition, we have impacted our community by participating in local run/walk fundraising events, Denim and Diamonds, March of Dimes, Family Networks and American Red Cross disaster relief.
